Goodbye COM230

This class has truly been quite an interesting adventure into the world of Media. Being with everyone of the classmates in the classroom was really interesting because each one of us had something to give of ourselves. Ms. Marilin, you were quite impressive as well since you truly opened our minds to understanding the depths of Media itself. Two things that I have learnt from this class are that I will sometimes need to expose myself to others so that I may improve with sharing my ideas. I also learnt that media is one of the most powerful tools to shape all of society and keeping that in mind, I wish to change my community and make it a better place, a place that will be peaceful and beautiful. Thanks everyone for what you taught me and please keep on being great people as I have seen. Enjoy the Summer! Peace Out!

The Social Media Challenge

Last Sunday I was obliged to challenge my self to not use any social media for an entire day! It was not the best situation to have been in since I usually communicate with friends and family. Using social media has become a part of me because I have liked it's amazing advantages. Having someone to talk to is something that I need each day. To my great relief, that Sunday was the day in which some friends were graduating from high school and I had the excuse to not be in social media. I definitely did not like the challenge and of course challenges are always disliked. To be honest, it was quite the most difficult challenge I've been faced with and truthfully, I failed it. I don't feel good about saying so because I usually like to think that I can overcome whatever I challenge myself with. It was in the night that I failed when I had to go into my profile and be on my account. I wish to challenge myself for a second time and I hope to be strong enough for that next time.

BEWARE, YOU RISK YOUR LIFE WITH THIS CHALLENGE!!!

FREEDOM OF SPEECH & PRESS!

It's sad to hear that my country is 36th in world press freedom. According to the Breaking Belize News, our country dropped six places since last year and this means we're suffering because of those above us who don't want us to know what's really happening. Our Democracy is going to be torn apart if we don't have the help of the media to keep the people knowledgeable and constantly participating in their own country! I am actually sad about this statistic and even ashamed because I really expect the people of my country to not give up on FREEDOM OF SPEECH & PRESS! We need to be informed and educated but the government does not help at all here in Belize(except for their own propaganda), so for a change, let us take it in to our own hands and be the strength that others need to be informed. If everyone does their part to inform and educate, we will grow as a wonderful Democracy!

WE NEED FREEDOM OF SPEECH & PRESS!!!

Wanderer

I really don't know where to start. Blogging isn't something that I'm used to. I guess I should start by introducing myself and saying stuff about me. My name is Daniel Rivera and I have no clue on what to say. You see, there are many things about me that I keep to myself; its a defense mechanism according to psychology. Being quiet is the usual me and my friends know that, but what I'm really interested in is in trying to see how to find meaning to my life. Everyone is in search for a "meaning to life"; we search for what makes us happy! I am not sure what really makes me happy, but what I have noticed is that I find happiness with; the jokes of my friends, having my baby sister in my arms, going to church and feeling peaceful. I really do wonder what is it that will make me happy, yet I believe that no happiness of mine will ever be if I don't have those who I love around me. I encourage you to seek for the happiness you desire, but do so keeping in mind that you will need to share the happiness with someone. Have a Beautiful Day!
